Sessions are suspended during the Coronavirus emergency. We will keep you updated via this website and through Facebook. Lizzy and Jan plan to produce new monthly Songbooks, so keep strumming, keep well and keep smiling.  We hope to see you all again soon.

Lizzy and Jan are compiling some ready-to-go Songbooks this year for our Gigs in local Care Homes etc.  Some of the gigs are booked up at short notice and it will be handy to have a stock of songbooks for such occasions.  The books will contain plenty of toe-tapping, popular songs that are fairly simple to play without too much rehearsal.  If you are planning to entertain your friends with an impromptu performance, help yourself to one of our Gig Songbooks (two so far, more to follow).  With all the words and chords compiled into one document, just add your voice and a uke to WOW them!

This Wednesday  (8 Jan), we have our first meeting of the New Year at The New Inn with a new format - i.e. a reduction in the number of songs in the songbook to give time for 'open mic' spots and a 'walk thru' a completely new song together. There will be full amplification of the lead players and singers with opportunities for all to have a go at using a microphone.

Second 'hot news' item is that our main meeting of the month will be on a Friday, for the first time.  We're still at the Ex-Servicemen's Club in North Road but in the ground floor function room.  It will be the same new format as the Wednesday meeting and we're inviting singers and players of other instruments to join in.  Those who would like to perform but don't play an instrument will be offered the opportunity of an accompaniment on the uke.  The aim is to make our meetings as inclusive as possible!

And welcome to PUPS in 2020!  The January Songbook is here (and on the FB page) ready for download. 

Did you spot the change of dates for our January 2020 meetings?  Our first meeting of the new year will be on Wednesday, 08 January 2020 at the New Inn.  This is a one-off change and for the rest of the year, we'll be back to the first Wednesday of every month (but do remember to check out the website, just in case of changes). 

Our other change, on a trial basis, is a move from the 3rd Wednesday to the 3rd Friday at the Ex-Servicemen's Club.  So the next meeting there will be on Friday, 17 January 2020.
